Aim

To uncover the strategies used by transnational food and drink corporations to promote their products and influence oral health policy; and to identify policy opportunities to mitigate industry influence on oral health.

Objectives

  • To undertake a critical discourse analysis of industry internal documentation, media reports and other publicly available documents to uncover the strategies used by the food and drink industries to promote their products, increase profit margins and influence oral health policy in each country. (Study 2.1)

  • To conduct qualitative semi-structured interviews with a range of key stakeholders in each country to explore the political, market and non-market strategies used by the food and drink industries to promote their products and influence oral health. (Study 2.2)

  • To identify in each country a range of different culturally and politically acceptable policy opportunities that could be implemented to limit industry influence on oral health. (Study 2.3)
